FIFA World Cup 2022: While FIFA has not yet announced the official lineup for the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it is expected that BTS’s Jungkook, music artist Shakira, and actor Norah Fatehi will all take the stage.

On November 20, hours before the opening game between hosts Qatar and Ecuador, the FIFA World Cup 2022 opening ceremony will take place. Doha will likely utilize the opening ceremony as an opportunity to put on a show and set the tone for what will be the biggest athletic event in the world.

When the opening ceremony begins at Al Bayt Stadium, Qatar will be hoping the spotlight will no longer be on the criticism that has surrounded the Arab country hosting the World Cup. Several players and coaches have spoken out against Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup, arguing that the country is too small to accommodate an event of this scale. Several teams’ fans have announced they will not be attending the event out of protest over human rights and discrimination issues.

Originally slated to kick off the tournament on November 21, the 21st was moved ahead to accommodate Qatar’s demand to kick off the tournament on a home field advantage. The opening ceremony was originally intended to take place after two games, which would have been an uncommon situation given that Qatar’s first match was set to take place before the ceremony.

When and where can we expect the opening ceremony?

Located in Al Khor, 40 kilometers north of Doha, is the Al Bayt Stadium, site of the opening ceremony. There is a capacity of 60,000 people inside the stadium’s retractable roof.

On Sunday, November 20 at 2 pm GMT, the opening ceremony will begin (7:30 pm IST).
To yet, FIFA has not revealed all of the artists that will take part in the 2022 World Cup’s opening ceremony.

One of the seven members of the South Korean boy band BTS, Jungkook, has confirmed that he will be performing at the event.

Reuters reported that the Black Eyed Peas, Robbie Williams, and Nora Fatehi, in addition to Colombian pop artist Shakira, who sung the official song of the 2010 World Cup, would be performing at the opening ceremony.

  • Dua Lipa, a British musician, has disputed rumors that she was scheduled to play at the event.
  • Singer Rod Stewart stated that he had declined an offer of “over $1 million” to perform in Qatar.

On the 19th of November, in addition to the opening ceremony, FIFA Fan Festival will begin in Doha’s Al Bidda Park and will feature performances by musicians from all around the world. Visitors to Qatar for the World Cup will have free admission to the FIFA Fan Festival, where they may hear live music and see various performances from artists of many genres during the tournament.
