Netflix has ordered a fourth season of The Witcher, and this time they’re going to shake things up a bit. In the epic drama series, Liam Hemsworth has taken over the role of Geralt of Rivia, which was previously played by Henry Cavill.
This action has been taken in preparation for the upcoming third season of the show, which is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2023. On December 25, 2022, The Witcher: Blood Origin, a four-part prequel series, will be released.
Cavill, who only last week confirmed he will reprise his role as Superman, played the gloomy Geralt of Rivia in the first three seasons of the drama series.
In The Witcher, three people’s lives are entangled with one another throughout the huge continent of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters all struggle for survival and prosperity in a world where good and evil are not always clear-cut.
Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan also make appearances. Most Dangerous Game, a drama set in the Quibi region, marked Hemsworth’s latest acting role. In what is rumored to be a lucrative arrangement, he will succeed Geralt of Rivia.
After three seasons on the program, which films internationally and has a tough production schedule, insiders say Cavill decided it was time to move on because he had only signed a short-term contract. In addition to the Superman reboot, he has a number of other film and television projects in the works, including the recently announced The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. According to insiders, Cavill’s co-stars on “The Witcher” renegotiated their contracts for Season 4.
