LPG Price Hike: From Tuesday, LPG prices will see a hike of Rs 50. After this hike, LPG cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme will cost Rs 553 and normal LPG cylinder will cost Rs 853.
LPG cylinders will become expensive from Tuesday. LPG prices will increase by Rs 50 per cylinder. With this, the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has increased from Rs 803 to Rs 853. While the price of LPG cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme will increase from Rs 503 to Rs 553. The prices will be effective from April 8.
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, while informing the media about this decision on Monday, said, “The increase of Rs 50 per cylinder is for both Ujjwala beneficiaries and non-Ujjwala beneficiaries. It will be reviewed every 15 days or a month.”
Losses of OMCs will be compensated
Hardeep Singh Puri Hardeep Singh Puri said that the loss of Rs 41338 crore of oil marketing companies will be compensated by increasing the excise duty. He said that the loss from the sale of LPG will be compensated.
He said that if the price of crude remains around $ 60-68 per barrel, then the common man can get relief in the prices of petrol and diesel. It is worth noting that there has been no change in the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder since August 2024.
Puri also clarified that the increase in excise duty on petrol and diesel is not aimed at burdening the consumers. Rather, its purpose is to compensate for the loss of Rs 43,000 crore to the oil marketing companies due to subsidized gas prices.
