The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, commonly known as the R350 grant, was launched as a new Sassa grant by the South African government in reaction to Covid-19 and its effects on the economy.
Applicants must make sure they meet the requirements before applying sassa r350 grant application online:
- citizens, permanent residents, asylum seekers, refugees, and holders of special permits from South Africa
- Unemployed
- have no other means of assistance for your finances or a backup income source.
- No other social grants, UIF, or NSFAS are given to those between the ages of 18 and 60.

- Visit the SRD website.
- Click on the yellow bar after scrolling down to “How do I apply for this SRD Grant”
- enter your mobile number in
- Enter the one-time pin that Sassa has issued to the phone and then click “send sms.”
- Fill out the Sassa-required forms to continue the application process.
R350 grant applications can also be submitted using the WhatsApp line:

- Send a message to this number on Whatsapp.
- In the WhatsApp message, make sure to mention your name, last name, and ID number.
- The next steps will be described in a message you will thereafter receive.
Given that SASSA will be engaging with other institutions to verify the information supplied by applicants, all applicants will need to sign a statement and consent form.
You just need to submit an application once on one channel and not often across all channels. Only one application per applicant will be processed by Sassa. Once applications have been processed, SASSA will get in touch with the selected candidates.
